National award-winning author Jane Little Botkin melds personal narratives of American families, often with compelling stories of western women. Her books have won numerous awards in biography, western historical nonfiction, and women’s studies, including two Spur Awards, two Caroline Bancroft History Prizes, and the Barbara Sudler Award for best book about the West by a woman. Finalist awards include the High Plains Book Award, Oklahoma Book Award, Colorado Book Award, Women Writing the West’s Willa Literary Award, three Foreword Indies Awards, and the Sarton Book Award. Her most recent book, The Pink Dress, Memoir of a Reluctant Beauty Queen, (She Writes Press), is a Foreword Indies Award winner in pop culture and a silver medalist in Women Writing the West's prestigious Willa Literary Award in creative nonfiction. It is now available in audiobook at your favorite audiobook source. Jane's The Breath of a Buffalo, A Biography of Mary Ann Goodnight, is tentatively scheduled for release in fall 2026 from the University of Oklahoma Press. She believes this is her best work yet.
