Jarrett J. Krosoczka—known since boyhood as "JJK"—is the New York Times bestselling author and illustrator of more than fifty books for young readers, including the wildly popular Lunch Lady graphic novel series and the groundbreaking graphic memoir Hey, Kiddo, a National Book Award Finalist. In addition to creating his own acclaimed books, he has written for Marvel, Star Wars, Crayola, Snoopy, and Arthur. For more than twenty-five years, Krosoczka has earned a devoted readership by creating stories filled with humor, heart, and an unwavering respect for young people.

A storyteller across multiple mediums, Krosoczka has produced, directed, and performed full-cast audiobook adaptations of his graphic novels. The Hey, Kiddo audiobook received both the Audie Award and the Odyssey Award for excellence in audiobook production, while the Lunch Lady audiobook, starring Kate Flannery (The Office), earned an Odyssey Honor. He voiced all of the characters in the animated adaptation of Peanut Butter and Jellyfish, and serves as Executive Producer for the in-development screen adaptations of his various other titles.

His work has reached audiences far beyond the printed page. Krosoczka has been featured on NPR's Fresh Air with Terry Gross, Good Morning America, and in The New York Times. His three TED Talks have collectively been viewed millions of times, and his drawing tutorials continue to inspire millions more through YouTube and TikTok.

Krosoczka has channeled his books' impact into advocacy beyond the page. He founded School Lunch Hero Day, a national campaign celebrating school lunch staff, and established the Joseph and Shirley Krosoczka Memorial Youth Scholarships, which fund art classes for underprivileged children in his hometown of Worcester, Massachusetts. That same commitment to arts education and literacy brings him to schools, libraries, and universities nationwide, where his engaging, motivational talks—drawing on how the arts helped him overcome adverse childhood experiences—have made him one of the most sought-after speakers in educational and literary circles.

Krosoczka holds a BFA in Illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design and has been awarded three honorary doctorates. He lives in western Massachusetts with his spouse, their three children, a pug named Frank, and a French bulldog named Bella Carmella.
