Jason Cohen built four startups over 26 years, invested in dozens of startups, and wrote about startups for 19 years. He founded WP Engine, the 8th-largest public website platform in the world, serving 200,000 customers with 1,200 employees. His online moniker asmartbear originates from his other well-known startup Smart Bear, which he bootstrapped before selling in 2008. Jason became a founding mentor and angel investor with Austin's top incubator, Capital Factory, in 2009. He co-won the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2017 for Technology in Central Texas together with WP Engine CEO Heather Brunner. Jason lives in Austin with his wife Darla and daughter Abigail.
