Jeanine keeps a fairy in her broom cupboard. The fairy has dragonfly wings, is no taller than a hand span from the tip of her hat to her toes, and is entirely convinced she is the long-lost daughter of a Scottish elf queen. Every so often the two of them share a pot of tea and discuss the weather, as one does. For the better part of twenty years, Jeanine has been writing cosy, warm-hearted fiction — stories about everyday magic, belonging, and places where one finally feels at home. When she isn't writing, she can be found by the sea with friends, loitering in museums, or reading books expressly designed to break the heart. She also harbours a quiet ambition to travel back in time; until that becomes practical, she makes do with writing her way into the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries with her eyes shut. Before turning to writing, she spent quite some time seeing the world. She worked as a costume designer and model booker in Britain, Greece and the French Antilles, fussed over the Phantom in a production of The Phantom of the Opera, organised offices, furnished other people's flats, and — for reasons she has never satisfactorily explained — once spent a great deal of time sorting concert tickets and socks. You can find her, her books, and the occasional dispatch from the broom cupboard on her website, on Facebook and Instagram, and in her newsletter.
