John H. Wilson is the author of Jack's Story, a narrative history of his father's service as a Sherman tank commander in the U.S. Army's 7th Armored Division during World War II. Jack Wilson helped stop the Germans at St. Vith, crushed the largest surrender on the Western Front in the Ruhr Pocket, and met the Russians at the Baltic Sea. For decades, Jack's story survived in a box of wartime letters and his 1995 account of his experience. Drawing on those firsthand accounts, along with years of research in military archives and interviews with surviving veterans, John reconstructed what Jack and his crew experienced during the war. That research became Jack's Story and an ongoing series on Substack. John and his wife, Janice, live in Hampstead, North Carolina.
