Julius Erving is the fifth leading scorer in NBA/ABA history, a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame and one of the 50 greatest players of all time, as voted by a panel of experts. During a remarkable career--he played in college for UMASS, and then professionally in New York and Philadelphia--his flights of improvisation around the basket, and his funky afro, made him into one of the most charismatic (and revolutionary) players the sport has ever known. He has graced the cover of Sports Illustrated 13 times and remains one of the most beloved and recognizable sports figures in the country. He lives in Atlanta with his family.
