Kara Zivin, PhD, MS, MA, MFA is a professor of psychiatry, obstetrics and gynecology, and health management and policy. For more than two decades, Zivin has studied why so many people with mental health conditions never receive care. Her research focuses on pregnant and postpartum women, Veterans, and older adults, and on translating evidence into state and federal policy. She has published more than 250 peer-reviewed articles and led research funded by the National Institutes of Health, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and state and foundation funders. Zivin faced a mental health crisis during pregnancy and postpartum. She has spent the years since combining data and story for understanding and impact. Persevered is the book she needed to write.
