Lea Ypi holds the Ralph Miliband Chair in Politics and Philosophy at the London School of Economics and is a Fellow of the British Academy. A native of Albania, she studied Philosophy and then Literature at the University of Rome La Sapienza, obtained her PhD from the European University Institute and was a Postdoctoral Prize Research Fellow at Nuffield College, Oxford. She is the author of several books, among which "Free: Coming of Age at the End of History" which won the Ondaatje Prize and the Slightly Foxed Best First Biography Prize and was shortlisted for the Baillie Gifford Prize and the Costa Biography Award. Her work has been translated into over thirty languages.
