Lee Sowder grew up in Roanoke, Virginia and writes with a love for her Blue Ridge Mountain roots. She graduated college with a degree in Sociology and spent the majority of her twenties traveling between Texas and Maine. At one point, her uncle asked her when she was coming out of retirement. She did, and spent the next thirty years in Richmond, Virginia, attending writing workshops while sampling various careers from Youth Counselor to Realtor to Project Manager.
She is currently retired and living in Durham, NC. Her first novel, Family Weave, was published in 2019. Her memoir, The Cut and Run Years, is available 9/15/2025.
