Lori Vollandt writes socially conscious fiction shaped by a lifetime spent examining violence, inequality, and the systems that allow both to persist. Her work explores what happens when ordinary women stop waiting for justice and begin confronting the structures that protect abuse, corruption, and institutional power.

For more than thirty years, Lori worked in education within the Los Angeles Unified School District, where she focused on promoting healthy relationships, nonviolence, social and emotional well-being, and equity for vulnerable students. She began her career teaching high school in Downtown Los Angeles before moving into district leadership after earning both her Master’s and Doctorate in Education from UCLA. Her professional work centered on trauma-informed practices, access, social justice, and the long-term effects of violence and instability on individuals and communities.
After retiring from education, Lori experienced a personal betrayal that revealed how something can be legal while still being profoundly unethical. Writing became both a creative outlet and a way to explore deeper questions surrounding power, accountability, silence, and survival.

Her interconnected suspense series, Come Join the Circle, follows women who refuse to remain silent inside systems designed to protect power at the expense of the vulnerable. Blending emotional realism, investigative suspense, and social commentary, her novels explore institutional corruption, religious power, trafficking, political influence, investigative journalism, and the ways women’s voices are often controlled, dismissed, or weaponized. At the center of her fiction are women confronting the moral complexity of seeking justice in systems never built to protect them.

Lori’s work has drawn comparisons to contemporary social thrillers that combine emotional depth with large-scale systemic themes. Her stories are informed not only by research, but by decades spent working directly with young people, families, and communities affected by trauma, violence, inequality, and institutional failure.

She lives in Los Angeles County, where she continues to research, write, and develop stories centered on resilience, justice, and the hidden structures shaping modern life.
