Mar Gómez holds a PhD Cum Laude and a degree in Physical Sciences from the Complutense University of Madrid, specializing in Atmospheric Physics. Her professional career began in the meteorology department of Telecinco and as a weather presenter on Telemadrid. She worked as a researcher at the Complutense University of Madrid for four years.
She is currently the Meteorological Director of eltiempo. es and has collaborated with media outlets such as National Geographic, QUO, Europa FM, Cadena SER, RNE, Onda Cero and Cadena COPE. She has also participated as a science communicator for international media such as the BBC, TRT World and Reuters, as well as national television networks including TVE, laSexta, Antena 3, La 2, Telecinco, Cuatro and Telemadrid.
Among her most notable contributions are her participation in the international climate change conference Change the Change, the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP25), and her work with the United Nations on Arctic protection.
She received the 2024 award for Best Science Content Creator. In 2021 she published What Do Raindrops and Hamburger Buns Have in Common?, followed by Meteorosensitive in 2023 and Drop by Drop: The Great Journey of Water in 2024. She has more than half a million followers across her social media platforms.
