Dr. Marvin Olasky is editor in chief of Christianity Today and was editor in chief of World magazine from 1992 to 2021. He has degrees from Yale and the University of Michigan and was a professor at The University of Texas at Austin (UT) from 1983 to 2008. He founded and chaired Zenger House, a foundation that honors journalists.

UT required him to keep track of numbers, so here are some: Thirty popular and scholarly books. More than 5,500 published articles, book chapters, and published lectures. He’s been interviewed 1,030 times and has spoken in 192 cities.

Olasky has also had academic appointments at two secular universities, San Diego State and Princeton, and two Christian colleges, The King’s College and Patrick Henry. College. He’s been a reporter and columnist on the Boston Globe and the Austin American Statesman, and has traveled in and reported from 80 countries.

Trivia: He has been to every major league and spring training ballpark, including some now destroyed—also 80 in all—and to every state and every Texas county (254 in all). Non-trivia: A third of a century as an elder in the Presbyterian Church in America and a half century of marriage, for which his wife deserves most of the credit.
