Michael Dane was an investigator for over 25 years. There is nothing he doesn’t know about sitting in parked cars, eating petrol station sandwiches and the irretrievable stupidity of the average criminal. These days he writes tightly plotted crime thrillers drawing upon his ten years as a Customs & Excise officer and his time spent on investigations in locations as exotic as Kazakhstan, Cairo, Istanbul and Doncaster. His Frank McBride series follows the cases of a customs investigation team aided, and usually complicated, by a group of highly qualified and experienced pensioners from Rutland who feel no obligation to play by the rules. If you enjoy the work of Mick Herron, Joy Ellis, Colin Dexter and SJ Richards, you’ll probably enjoy Michael’s books. When he’s not thinking up villainous characters or devious plot twists, he can be found wandering the footpaths of Rutland and the Vale of Belvoir with his faithful retriever, Scout, at his heels, or more often, misbehaving.
