Mike Wilkes is a youth worker, speaker, and storyteller based in small-town Aotearoa (New Zealand). For over 20 years, he’s walked alongside young people through the highs, the heartbreaks, and the raw moments that shape who we become. His first book, The Unschooled Life, was born out of that journey — and his own winding path of failure, faith, and growth. It’s part memoir, part manual, and all heart — written to help everyday people turn struggle into strength. By day, Mike leads a team of youth workers, runs resilience programs in schools, mentors young adults, and creates resources to help people live with purpose, rhythm, and guts. His work weaves together faith, psychology, and a deep belief that life itself is our greatest teacher. When he’s not writing or speaking, you’ll likely find Mike building a treehouse with his four kids, out on an adventure, or enjoying slow mornings and deep chats with his wife.
