Nick is a sportswriter who knows frighteningly little indeed about any kind of sport. But this doesn't stop him from writing in great depth about it; whether this be as demanding fan, overlooked GOAT or enthusiastic wannabe. His experience as an enthusiastic tennis player in which tennis itself is the winner of every match he plays; his fantastic memories of playing football at primary school in which World Cups have been lost in the flick of a wrist; and his decades of dealing with demanding swimming training regimes have all contributed to a unique sports voice in which imagination triumphs over reality on every occasion.

Bringing all this experience to bear in his 'Sporting Confessions' series, Nick offers some rare insights and humour into what it is to be an athlete at the top of their game. Recent publications include:

* Confessions of an Ageing Cyclist
* The Fantastic Confabulations of an Ageing Tennis Player
* Les Conquêtes Normandes d'un Tennisman Vieillissant (The Norman Conquests of an Ageing Tennis Player)
* The Courting Lives of an Ageing Tennis Player
* Confessions of the Ageing Swimmers
* Confessions of an Ageing Figure Skater
* Confessions of an Aspiring Basketball Player
* Confessions of an Ageing Football Player
* Confessions of an Ageing Tennis Player

When he's not conquering his next sporting challenge, he writes plays, poetry, short stories and songs often in collaboration with other esteemed colleagues including:

• Adolonia and other Escape Routes: The Not-The-30th-Reunion Reunion Community Arts Anthology
• Walking Through My Head (with TJ Bradley)
• Tabloid!!! (with Gary Carpenter)
• A Spell in the Army (with Mike Kenny)
• No Such Thing as an Englishman (with Janice Owen)
• Racing Trains
• Mess Theory
• The Business Allotment: Tips for Business Start Ups, Lessons for Life

When he’s not writing or singing, he is CEO of The Mighty Creatives (TMC), the national UK charity based in Leicester which fights for social justice for young people by empowering the most unheard young people in society to find their sense of self, purpose and belonging through creative experiences. In 2024, TMC won the Children and Young Now Arts and Culture Awards; this was preceded in 2023 by TMC being awarded Best Service Delivery Innovation category at the Third Sector Awards. He is also currently Visiting Professor of the School of Human and Health Sciences at the University of Huddersfield and in 2012 was awarded an MBE for services to arts-based businesses.
