Omar Bassal, CFA is the founder and Chief Investment Officer of Shukr Investments, a global equity investment manager that seeks to achieve top tier returns and make a positive impact on society. Mr. Bassal also serves as an investment committee member and fund board member of several investment companies in the United States and abroad. Mr. Bassal began investing in 1994 and has held senior positions in investment companies in the United States and the Middle East. Prior to founding Shukr Investments, Mr. Bassal worked as head of asset management at MASIC, a multi-billion dollar family office based in Saudi Arabia where he oversaw local and international public equity, private equity, and real estate fund investments. In the United States, Mr. Bassal worked as a portfolio manager at Azzad Asset Management and as an equity analyst for Profit Investment Management. Mr. Bassal holds an MBA with honors in finance, management, and statistics from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. He graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Economics, also from the Wharton School. He has appeared on Real Vision and CNBC.
