Patricia Smith Wood was an only child for most of her young years and entertained herself and others making up stories and putting on plays. Law enforcement is in her DNA. Her father served as a police officer and completed a distinguished career as Deputy Assistant Director for Domestic Intelligence with the FBI. Pat even became an FBI employee for eighteen months. But alas, a career in law enforcement proved impractical in the real world. She did graduate from the FBI Citizens Academy in 2009. Her career experiences include time as an executive assistant in hospital administration, managing a multi-state telecommunications network for a large company, bank security operations, and computer technology. She became president of her own computer company in 1991 and went to work at the company full time in 1993. She and her husband operated the company until they sold it at the end of 2006.
