Rhoshell Baker is a Jamaican-born American-Canadian author whose writing moves confidently between darkness and laughter. She writes dark thrillers, psychological and speculative fiction, mysteries, political fiction, and humorous stories. Across genres, her work explores the fragile space where violence meets humanity, where ordinary people face extraordinary choices, and where an unexpected laugh can emerge from even life’s most difficult moments.

Rhoshell is the author of the standalone revenge thriller Revenge of Xinli, an unflinching exploration of trauma, survival, vengeance, and the devastating cost of turning oneself into a weapon. The idea for the novel was inspired by her admiration for action-revenge films such as Kill Bill and John Wick, which examine not only violence, but also the grief, loyalty, and humanity beneath it. Through Xinli’s journey, Rhoshell asks what remains of a person when revenge becomes both a purpose and an identity.

Her wider body of work includes medical and psychological thrillers, futuristic suspense, cozy mysteries, political fiction, and imaginative stories about technology, justice, memory, identity, and human survival. Whether she is writing about a surgeon hiding a deadly secret, a child remembering the future, humanity voting for its own survival, or a baker investigating murder, Rhoshell creates emotionally driven stories centred on characters confronting impossible decisions.

Her humorous catalogue includes My Couch Ate My Ambition, The Introvert’s Apocalypse, How a Green Stole My Soul, I’m Going Crazy, Would You Like to Join Me?, Chalice in the Corner: First Puff, and Punish Me, Please & Hurt Me, Good. Through satire, comic fantasy, and sharply observed everyday humor, she explores procrastination, anxiety, ambition, family, money, aging, work, relationships, and the strange ways people try to remain sane in an increasingly unreasonable world.

In addition to writing, Rhoshell works as a Civil Transportation Technologist and Roadway Designer. Her previous professions include nursing, teaching, and electronic engineering. She believes each profession taught her something valuable about people—how they think, how they break, how they heal, and how they continue moving forward when the road ahead becomes uncertain.

Rhoshell is a happy wife and a proud mother. When she is not writing or designing roadways, she enjoys watching classic action and horror films with Jupiter, her rescued cat, and attempting—often unsuccessfully—to grow plants. She lives with her family and a determined garden that refuses to die.

She is actively seeking film and television adaptation opportunities for Revenge of Xinli and other works from her growing catalogue.
