It is said that lightning doesn't strike twice. That's good because I have survived a plane being struck by lightning with ten foot flames searing off the wing next to me. Perhaps I am lucky or am at least prepared to fly again on his assumption. I have written radio plays, travel articles, freelance journalist features and poems in Spanish. I have briefly lived a tribal life in Papua New Guinea and have also worked in a community organisation servicing 50 nationalities. My humour is quirky and I seem to attract unusual incidents. A besotted consumer client wanted me to be given a damehood and have my statue built. Another client held me and another worker hostage for a couple of hours, yet another brought in ten foot long house guttering and plonked it on my desk. In London I reported for a group of ten weeklies with stories including murder by chisel, theatre and ciinema reviews and maggots on pancakes - to name a few. The newspaper made us use our copy paper for toilet paper, employed former prisoners in the printing works and gave us typewriters which could have been made fromf melted tanks from the Boer War. I have translated 14 books from Spanish to English and speak conversatonal Spanish. In keeping with this, my travels have taken me to Chile and Colombia as well as many other countries. I have a husband, three married daughters, seven grandchildren and two dogs and live in Melbourne, Australia.
