Sam Tobin grew up in Manchester and like all Mancunians quickly came to realise he was living in the best city in the world.
While working for Manchester council he fluked his way into the TV industry and spent the next decade creating and producing TV shows. Watching a demob-happy production team loot the Celebrity Big Brother 3 props warehouse remains a career high.
He returned home to Manchester to pursue writing full time. Drawing on his own mixed race background, his time living in Moss Side and his fascination with the criminal history of his home town, he created the Manchester Underworld series and its anti-hero Craig Malton - The man who solves crime for criminals.
Sam's lived everywhere from Brixton to Hollywood but is currently back in Manchester, stalking the streets, hanging out in pubs and trying to talk to as many Mancunians as possible. All in the name of research.
