Sananda has been writing short stories and poems for years, but never imagined he would write novels—at least not until 2016, a year after his wife passed away. Early one morning at 4 am, he was awakened by his inner voice telling him to 'get up and write.' Though he wanted to stay in bed, the persistent voice compelled him to sit at his computer. As he sat there, he wondered what he was supposed to write, until a movie began playing in his mind. He felt he was meant to transcribe the scenes as they came. After finishing the fourth book in that series, Sananda realized he would be writing more. The next novel he wrote was The Awakening of Rae, followed by its sequel, Her Heart's Awakening. The topic was surprising, given the subject matter of this book series. He did not know about lesbian relationships. As the book progressed, it became clear that it was about love between two people, who happened to be women.
As Sananda continued writing, his books began to explore relationship challenges and situations that many readers might find familiar. Over time, he also began writing books about the spiritual realm and the mystical elements of life experiences that not everyone encounters.
