Writing my story has allowed me to tangibly come to terms with the loss of my mum, finally find some closure and to begin to understand myself , others and my journey thus far in the process. I hope it resonates with you, as a reader. It has brought me great comfort and moments of joy. Keeping the conversation going around dementia is so so important, this book is a part of that process and I thank you for taking the time to read it or listen to it, I as the author, narrate the audible book too. Thank you. I've just finished filming the role of Ray in the upcoming feature film Everybody's Talking About Jamie. I became a household name for my role as Anita in Victoria Wood's dinnerladies and as Sunita in Coronation St and Najia in Doctor Who. I trained at Manchester University, Trinity Laban , London, Darpana Academy, India and I have a post graduate in teaching dance from Middlesex University. I'm a jobbing actor, I particularly love live performance and have done a lot of theatre, regionally and UK wide and worldwide, a variety of plays from the very obscure, classical, comedy, new writing to Shakespeare. In London I have worked at Theatre Royal Stratford East, The Globe, The Oval House, The Southbank, The Lyric Hammersmith, The Park Theatre, and The Apollo Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue. I also have written and directed my own comedy show for women from a community group from Oldham, near Manchester. One of my other avatars over the years has been working as a dancer/choreographer and teacher where I taught UK wide and across different communities in theatre and educational settings. On television, I continue to work - as an actor in various roles and also as a presenter with documentaries around Britain's countryside including social history. This is my first book. It has been an absolute labour of love and honour to write - it is in many ways, a love letter to my mum and my heritage that pulls no punches.
