Stephen C. Angle received his B.A. from Yale University in East Asian Studies and his Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Michigan. Since 1994 he has taught at Wesleyan University, where he is now Professor of Philosophy. Angle's central concern is to explore the implications of taking China's traditions seriously as philosophy. This means engaging with contemporary Chinese philosophers -- be they Confucians, Marxists, liberals, etc. -- and also working to get US philosophers to broaden their conception of the meaning and practice of philosophy.
