Steve Fleming is Professor of Cognitive Neuroscience at University College London. He leads research groups at UCL's Institute for Cognitive Neuroscience and Max Planck Centre for Computational Psychiatry and Ageing Research. He has published over 150 papers in scientific journals, and won multiple awards for his research on metacognition, including the Wiley Prize in Psychology from the British Academy in 2016 and the Spearman Medal from the British Psychological Society in 2019. Most recently he was named the recipient of the Francis Crick Medal and Lecture by the Royal Society for his research on consciousness and metacognition. His first book Know Thyself: The New Science of Self-Awareness has been translated into 7 languages and was featured in the Financial Times, The New Yorker and on the cover of New Scientist magazine.
