Steve Silk is a journalist working for BBC Look East in Norwich. In his spare time he cycles and writes. Go West, his most recent book, sees him cycle from London to the Welsh Coast through the Chilterns, Oxford, the Cotswolds, Gloucester, the Wye Valley and the Brecon Beacons. He completed the journey over eight days, switching from a tourer to a mountain bike at Monmouth and fitting in a day’s canoeing too. BBC Travel calls it a “transcendent two-wheeled odyssey”. National Geographic describes it as a “love-letter to the British countryside” while the Travelling for Business magazine praises Steve’s “dry wit, self-deprecating charm and knack for turning a sharp incline into a punchline”. His previous cycling adventure recounted an 11-day trip from London to Edinburgh. The Great North Road was published in 2021. Before that he wrote two books on the Norfolk Broads. The Wherryman's Way, won the East Anglia Travel Book of the Year in 2010. Hidden Riverside Norwich - looking at the River Wensum - came out in 2016.
