I am a professional horticulturist, an active garden writer, and a speaker. I have been a passionate gardener and orchid grower for over 50 years and now live in the beautiful mountains of Asheville, NC with my wife, Sascha, and two dogs, Sophie and Theo. I greatly enjoy growing all types of plants, edible and ornamental, indoors and out. I hold B.S. and M.S. degrees in horticulture from Ohio State University and Cornell University respectively and have worked as a professional horticulturist at key botanical gardens including the National Tropical Botanical Garden in Hawaii, Cleveland Botanical Garden, and Missouri Botanical Garden, and for leading horticultural companies including Burpee and White Flower Farm.
