Ted Haynes has studied writing at Dartmouth College, Talladega College, UC Berkeley, and Stanford University. He is the author of nine books, most recently The Simulated Plantation. The Simulated Plantation takes a young woman engineer into an extremely realistic computer simulation of a cotton plantation in Talladega, Alabama, in 1860. Further books include five books in the Northwest Murder Mystery Series, a book of short stories titled On The Road from Burns, and a history of Vandevert Ranch in Oregon. Ted and his wife first visited Central Oregon in 1975 and have loved it ever since. They now spend every summer in a house they built on the Little Deschutes River.
