I grew up in Germany on a steady diet of Edgar Wallace films I was far too young to be watching — and an early, enduring love by the name of Miss Marple. The taste I developed back then never left me: British fog, old houses, and very polite people with very dark secrets. These days I write cosy crime. Hunter B. Holmes investigates in London; in Sirmione on Lake Garda, people tend to meet their end somewhere between the pizza and the pasta — and a new setting is already waiting in the wings. It all began with love stories, though, and the romance has never quite let go of me. However twisty the case, there's always a happy ending in my books. Always. My books are meant to be the sort of thing I love to read myself: gripping, but nightmare-free. The kind you can read in bed at night and still sleep soundly afterwards. I live in the southern German countryside with my husband and three tomcats, all of whom are firmly convinced that writing is a team sport. At the very least, they're usually draped over me while I work. My best ideas tend to turn up when I'm out and about — in the car, in a restaurant — and have to be scribbled down that very second, much to my husband's despair.
