About this listen
Over the past few years, Brianna Wiest has gained renown for her deeply moving, philosophical writing. This new compilation of her published work features pieces on why you should pursue purpose over passion, embrace negative thinking, see the wisdom in daily routine, and become aware of the cognitive biases that are creating the way you see your life.
Some of these pieces have never been seen; others have been read by millions of people around the world. Regardless, each will leave you thinking: This idea changed my life.

Story
Human beings are primates, and primates are political animals. Our brains, therefore, are designed not just to hunt and gather but also to help us get ahead socially, often via deception and self-deception. But while we may be self-interested schemers, we benefit by pretending otherwise. The less we know about our own ugly motives, the better - and thus, we don't like to talk, or even think, about the extent of our selfishness. This is "the elephant in the brain".

Poorly performed, tries to be deep but is not
The way the essays were read, I lost interest very fast. But I decided to give it a chance. The more I pushed on, the more I realised it doesn't get any better, neither the content nor the narration.

Great content, wish chapters were labelled
Most essays are really powerful. It's annoying that they don't have names because I can't go back to the ones I liked.
