Publisher's Summary

Persephone is the Goddess of Spring by title only. The truth is, since she was a little girl, flowers have shriveled at her touch. After moving to New Athens, she hopes to lead an unassuming life disguised as a mortal journalist.

Hades, God of the Dead, has built a gambling empire in the mortal world and his favorite bets are rumored to be impossible.

After a chance encounter with Hades, Persephone finds herself in a contract with the God of the Dead and the terms are impossible: Persephone must create life in the Underworld or lose her freedom forever.

The bet does more than expose Persephone's failure as a goddess, however. As she struggles to sow the seeds of her freedom, love for the God of the Dead grows - and it's forbidden.

Contains mature themes.

Persephone wasn't the best

the narrator was nice. I did not like Persephone at all. She was really hard to like. I like how short it is. aren't many sub plots. quick read.

Bland

I had a hard time getting into the narration style and I realised after spicy scenes that the tone even during mundane scenes was that of erotica. The spicy narration was great though so I gave two stars. The book itself was frustrating at times because the whole thing is Persephone doing things people told her not to do and not having any consequences when she screws up as a result. Hades was alright and if I continue the series, he would be the reason.

Such a beautifully written story!

The whole boom with Persephone & Hades' character development is so well done and The performance of the narrator is absolutely amazing and works so well with the story!

Loved this one thoroughly ❤️

surprisingly well-done

It didn't drag and maintained intrigue throughout. The characters were nuanced, I didn't get bored of them. I liked that many different aspects of the underworld were explored throughout the story. Persephone is a decent protagonist. I pretty much snoozed through the smut scenes with only a few exceptions but it wasn't off-putting. The book didn't devolve into senseless love making or become incoherent to the point of not having a resolution as all which tends to happen in almost all smut book. they start off bold and promising then fizzle just as quickly which is why this was a surprisingly good read..

The tension!

This was a good romance, not too much fantasy tho I would have liked it more if their was more fantasy to the story. I liked the concept of Gods in modern age . It was fun !

Beautiful

Love listening to mythical stories. The narration was absolute bomb. So is the story line.

Quite a tale

I listened to this book on Audible and I think it’s the best decision I made since the narrator “Meg Sylvan” did a fantastically amazing job.  I couldn’t had the experience I had while reading the book. She is fabulous at narrating different characters, she picks up every character's essence and brings something fantasy-worthy out of it all.

I love Scarlett’s writing and this story with the advantage of being an audiobook kept me hooked. I started listening to audiobooks recently while I go on my long walks and every day I looked forward to that time of the day to enjoy. I had to really control my reactions when people were around either from blushing badly or laughing out loud.

Hades & Persephone are so cute yet strong characters, even their Darkness makes you feel alive. I really recommend reading the book or better, listening to it. The plot is quite interesting and enjoyable. I am looking forward to listening to the other two books in this series.
It’s a 4.5⭐️ for me.

Very weird narration. badly written story

the plots, characters, everything was stupid. the narration was the worst though. listen to this to understand how to not write a book and narrate it. the concept was interesting but everything falls apart once you start reading. teenagers with less sense could enjoy it
