Jo Nesbo -- what happened to you?

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

oh my gosh, you must be kidding me!! Is this cliche-ridden, flawed, superficial, predictable, dull novel by the same author who produced the eery, deeper, surprising novels of the Harry Hole series?
This book would have been better if the characters had some depth, the story were enticing, and the cliches were dropped.
The performance must have been a joke. Never have I heard a less appropriate reading of a book.

What could Jo Nesbo have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Did Nesbo write this in 2 days while suffering from a hangover? I hope that in future writings Jo Nesbo will stop and think about what he's doing.

What didn’t you like about Patti Smith’s performance?

Shouldn't the narrator be a man? I mean, to go with the main character whose story is being narrated.
Patti Smith has a flat voice, stumbled on words, had some crazy twang where she says "winda" instead of window.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Blood on Snow?

Everything.
Should never have been written.

Please bring back Sean Barrett

What disappointed you about Blood on Snow?

I normally can't get enough of Jo Nesco's books, but the characters never really worked for me. The book felt very short. Also, the narrator was a very poor choice. The broad New York accent, but a story set in Oslo just felt so weird.

What could Jo Nesbo have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

The characters just never really connected to me. The story just didn't seem to go anywhere.

Would you be willing to try another one of Patti Smith’s performances?

i doubt it. Her style of narration is slow, monotone and lacking any character. The broad New York accent just starts to grate after a while.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Blood on Snow?

it needs scenes added!

Any additional comments?

Please get Sean Barrett back for these Jo Nesbo books.

Not up to his usual standards... Disappointed! Almost glad it was just under 4hrs. Hoping the next Harry Hole will be back on form

Disappointing and terrible narration

What was most disappointing about Jo Nesbo’s story?

The main character seemed to lack personality and I got bored so couldn't finish listening.

How could the performance have been better?

A different narrator! Book written in first person Swedish male - narrated by an American woman which was just weird plus she has the most awful croaky droaning voice.

Any additional comments?

I normally love Jo Nesbo books but this was a real disappointment.

Quite possibly the worst narration ever

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The narration

Has Blood on Snow put you off other books in this genre?

no

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

I wouldn't know, I fell asleep half way through

If this book were a film would you go see it?

As long as the narrator change

Any additional comments?

I'm sorry, but this really was a dreadful choice of narrator. Sean Barratt made Harry Hole into a believable thoroughly enthralling character. Patti Smith narrative was poorly paced and monotone. I had little interest in finishing what might have been quite a good listen.

Ideal for the insomnia

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The usual narrator

Who might you have cast as narrator instead of Patti Smith?

Sean Barrett

Any additional comments?

The voice of the narrator droned on in a monotone that could put me to sleep in about 10 minutes

Possibly good

The narrator for me was terrible. I didn't listen to it all as I couldn't listen to the narrator I managed half. Very disappointing.

Totally ruined by apalling narration!

Jo Nesbo is my favourite author, but this author is utterly awful and totally ruins the experience of listening to this audio book.
Someone needs to stop this woman narrating audio books - and fast!

Better sound from my iPad reader

What disappointed you about Blood on Snow?

Story average. BUT who is Patti Smith? Awful narration. More emotion from Siri reader on iPad.

Would you recommend Blood on Snow to your friends? Why or why not?

No because of the narrator. Is she a relative of Jo Nesbo?

How did the narrator detract from the book?

One level, uninteresting, flat, unemotional and boring voice. My dead grandmother could read with more emotion.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Huge disappointment over the narrator.

Any additional comments?

Do NOT make the same mistake I did. Don't buy it.

Dreadful

Story was ok. But why it was read, frustratingly slow, by a woman with a strong New York gangster voice beats me. Could put you off audio books for life.
