Publisher's Summary
The first complete guide to burnout, based on ground-breaking new research. It shows how you can tell whether you really have burnout and helps you shape a strategy for recovery that will work for you.
Are you always exhausted? Unable to feel for others or for life's pleasures? Find it hard to concentrate and take in what you read? You may have burnout.
Burnout is widespread among high achievers in the workplace, in business and in caring professions like health and teaching. Parents with new babies and those caring for the elderly and people with disabilities are also at risk. Although burnout is so common, it's often undiagnosed or misdiagnosed - most commonly as depression.
Drawing on ground-breaking new research, this audiobook hands you the tools to work out whether you have burnout - or not. The good news? It is possible to recover from even severe burnout. The authors show you how to recognise your own burnout pattern, how far you have travelled into burnout territory and provide a broad-based management approach to help you regain your spark and build your resilience.
Burnout is a complete guide for anyone who suspects they may have burnout, for their families, for health professionals and employers.
Critic Reviews
"I cried reading parts of this book. Profoundly insightful, with information that is superbly liberating about a phenomenon that imprisons too many of us. Highly recommended." (Dr Sonia Henry, best-selling author of Going Under)
"Burnout doesn't have to mean the end of your career." (Alice Cooney, principal solicitor, Office of Public Prosecutions Victoria)

PDF desired
I wish the audio book would have a pdf with the appendix’s referenced. It would make it workable.

Not very insightful
It's ok... but couldn't finish. Gets dry. Probably really helpful for some, and definitely worth a try

The long Version of What could be a Shorter Story
Overly academic. Could have been conveyed more succinctly. The long Version of What could be a Shorter Story.

Awful
Couldn’t even listen to the beginning.
Trying to work out how to return it, what a waste of money.

Too cognitively heavy to process
I just couldn't get into this book. I was super excited and pre-orderd, but ended up returning it. It is very much "textbook" literature, which is fine - but just too much for me to mentally process at the times I needed basic information and tips.
Tried several times to get past the first two chapters, and just could not manage. If you are suffering burnout, there is too much too follow to gain help from this book straight away, without several attempts.
Perhaps might be best suited to hard copy rather than Audible version.

Common sense stuff
I don't think I've learnt a lot from this book. Most of it seems like common sense but put into medical terms.

What a godsend
This book has finally helped me understand exactly what Burnout Syndrome is and all the symptoms that come along with it. It gives you real life stories of sufferers and the changes they made to overcome the syndrome. That gave me great direction to implement changes for myself. I didn’t find any of the content boring or irrelevant and took away so much helpful information. Reading this made me feel like I wasn’t alone. I highly recommend anyone suffering to give this a try. Good luck with your recovery and you’re not alone in this
