good but slightly predictable

this is quite a good entertaining (involving) story that did keep my attention. some parts over did the fine detail, which seemed a little pointless unless it is needed later on in the story (sometimes it did, sometimes not). I was slightly disappointed in the ending as I could have predicted it, I also would chosen a different cause of action, but I'm not an sas person, but it did show how involved I'd got with the story!

Loved the story but the narrator MAKES it!

I've devoured this book. The narrator makes it seem like he is Nick. Brilliant performance.

Not Mcnab's finest but good

Any additional comments?

This was an average read that didn't really grab my attention for much of the book. I enjoyed some parts of it, like when Stone was on his mission and camping out in the forest, but other than that there wasn't a great deal in the way of action or surprises. Enjoyable, but only just! Definitely give it a try, just know that Mcnab has done better.

Love Andy McNab's work. Another gripper

The way Andy McNab goes into intricate detail yet describes it so casually, you get the sense that he's describing things from personal experience, and probably is.
Great follow up to Remote Control, both kept me gripped from start to finish.

Got hooked!

I normally only listen to audiobooks on my commute. That changed with this book and I found myself listening at every opportunity - great follow up to the first story.

Superb

Couldn't put it down. Twists and turns yet easy to follow. Somehow you think he has a soft heart till he realises he is being shafted.

Crisis Four 2nd in the Nick Stone missions.

I'm ex to a degree. its not just the soldiering, his trench deadpan humour I enjoy.
He is a first class story teller.
Keep it going Andy, very enjoyable and excellent distraction from the madness.

Great Read/Listen - The Story Continues

Having read many McNab books further along the line first, it's interesting to come back to the beginning and now cover Nick Stone from the start. There are important characters and pieces of information that continue throughout Andy's novels and a sadness to read the early books, only to know how things pan out later in the future stories. His writing is closer to Bravo Two Zero but develops as time goes on. Sometimes it feels like there is a little of the ending missing, they sometimes could do with a little more information at the end. It's almost like that's always the way anyway, you never get all the answers you're hoping for - however, in a fictional novel, you can and should.
Great read/listen and good performance from the reader. Another McNab book recommended.

Another great book by fav author

If you're looking for an author who is an excellent storyteller, you'll enjoy this. I particularly like it that he is ex-SAS so he has authentic experience and that shows in his writing. Gripping reading!

Paul Thornley

Reasonable, pretty sure Paul Thornley is one of the best narrators ever. Mid range story elevated by cracking reading.

Slowish start but accelerates like a Suzuki GS 1000!

Good at the very beginning but gets a little slow for a chapter or two, but after that rapidly becomes a break only for loo calls!
