Publisher's Summary

Because communication that's precise and clear goes far beyond the spoken or written word - it actually changes lives! And that's precisely why best-selling author Dr. Gary Goodman created this original program, Crystal Clear Communication: How to Explain Anything Clearly in Speech or Writing.

With this program, you'll have the tools, the techniques, and, just as importantly, the unflinching confidence to influence your readers and listeners decisively - both at work and at home.

Use it at work to command attention, to lead your team, to drive your point home. Or at home, use effective communication to strengthen your marriage, improve your friendships, and simply become a better parent.

Through this program, you'll have the answers. How to begin with a crystal-clear mind. How to quiet your thoughts. How to be level-headed and dispassionate. How to size up your audience. How to think through what you want to convey. How to avoid procrastination.

One quick listen and you'll discover:

  • The PEP formula, an amazing method to get your point across clearly, every time
  • The three Ts of appealing to any reader or listener
  • Four simple steps to stunning sales, whether you're selling a product, service, or idea
  • Five contrarian ways to overcome writer's block
  • The secret to overcoming stage fright
  • How to blast through writer's block every time

A Very Useful Book

This book is full usable tips on how to achieve greater clarity in our writing and in our spoken words. The author supports his tips with many examples. These serve to clarify and make more clear the points that he is making. I liked the tip about only including three or four points when delivering a lecture or writing about an essay on a topic. He also alludes to the need for avoiding jargon and of instead using the simpler words when you can.
I also thought that it was very insightful of him to encourage the use of cliches if they can help convey the point one is trying to make. They are too often made pariahs when they can serve a useful role inn communicating our ideas and thoughts. There are many other tips as well. In summary, this book can make you a better communicator.

meretricious

This peacock is all feathers and no bird, all broth and no stew, all sizzle and no steak. If you’re a fan of head-in-clouds, then this book is for you. If not maybe look into S. Pressfield or T.S. Grover. As far as communications are concerned, this guy was crystal clear about not having anything to say. Steer clear if possible.

Largely Sales-Oriented, and Instantly Usable

It doesn't tell you up front, but as the tips and tricks are offered and situations are examined, the usable information here becomes oriented towards sales. The idea is that everyone likes to buy, and nobody likes to be sold. Everything in this book is simple, effective, and easily usable, and you get better with practice, but the direct applications in the sales world for me was an unexpected bonus. The means to provide customer service, defuse hostility, and secure future sales most definitely offers a broader application outside of the sales world. Goodman's approaches to communication are timeless and can help you come across as effortless in using them if you're willing to commit.

Too expensive for what it offers!

This book is too expensive for the few points presented and discussed throughout the whole book.

Not my cup of tea

The takeaway was small yet the peacocking was grand. If hearing personal stories and accomplishments is what you enjoy then, by all means, this is your book!

Its more a motivational book then communication improvement excercise

Frankly i didn’t like it. I was confused whether i am listening some general advice on communication or its on specifics for which i originally came. Though it does have some do’s and don’t but none was enlightening or something i like to take away.

Some great content but somehow a bit annoying

Great in so many ways but annoying in the equal number. This book is as much about motivation as it is about technical ability. I suppose I was more in the mood for informative content than 'being energised'. Some useful techniques are not covered to a sufficient degree like the PEP. Instead I found too much focus on stories about the successes of the author. The science behind his ideas is based on anecdotes of what has worked for him rather than independent research. I wish I could give it more stars as elements of it are interesting but on the balance, too many elements were disappointing. My scoring reflects the value for money I felt I got.

The content is good but more business and sales oriented than I had anticipated.
Not so useful for everyday conversation
