Der Ruf des Cthulhu (Call of Cthulhu) ist eine 1926 geschriebene und 1928 in Weird Tales veröffentlichte Kurzgeschichte von Howard Phillips Lovecraft. Es ist tatsächlich das einzige von Lovecraft verfasste Werk, in dem Cthulhu eine besondere Bedeutung zukommt, die über eine bloße Erwähnung hinausgeht.
Die Geschichte beginnt damit, dass der Erzähler Francis Wayland Thurston darüber berichtet, wie er nach dem Tod seines Großonkels George Gammell Angell, eines bekannten Professors an der Brown-Universität in Providence, einem düsterem Geheimnis auf die Spur kam, das wahrscheinlich für den Tod seines Großonkels verantwortlich war und auch sein eigenes Ende bedeuten könnte.
