Dieser hat inzwischen den Auftrag erhalten, das Bild „Die Trauerweide" von Monsieur Chalot zu stehlen. Doch vor dessen Haus erfährt er, dass Monsieur Chalot vor kurzem gestorben ist und sein Haus bereits von dem zwielichtigen Gebrauchtwarenhändler Monsieur Andronicus entrümpelt wurde. Lupin macht sich auf den Weg in das Viertel mit den Gebrauchtwarenhändlern. Er ahnt nicht, dass Georges Lorant genau dort eine große Razzia durchführt…
