NOW A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE directed by Denis Villeneuve, starring Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Dave Bautista, Christopher Walken, Léa Seydoux, Stellan Skarsgård, and Charlotte Rampling

Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, who would become the mysterious man known as Muad'dib. He would avenge the traitorous plot against his noble family—and would bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream.

A stunning blend of adventure and mysticism, environmentalism and politics, Dune won the first Nebula Award, shared the Hugo Award, and formed the basis of what is undoubtedly the grandest epic in science fiction. Frank Herbert's death in 1986 was a tragic loss, yet the astounding legacy of his visionary fiction will live forever.

brilliant narration, every chapter starts with little nuggets of wisdom by Princess Irulon. it gets a bit dull in the middle, but the book has a lot offer.

A Brilliant listen

I wish that the Baron’s voice would not be changed so frequently and the Duke and Lady Jessica’s voice would remain constant throughout the narrative

Simon vance is brilliant and the voice of the Baron is exquisite

I am still giving this a five star because the book is so cheap. and I had a coupon as well, so, I essentially got the book for free.

So, the main thing is, this production is bizarre with its production choices. sometimes, it is like a full cast drama with multiple voices, background music, special effects and all that. Then, suddenly, one main narrator male and one female narrator. Then, it is only one single male narrator for everything. then, suddenly the effects come back. And, then, sometimes there are two male narrators. and then, it keeps changing like this, chapter to chapter.

It gets very confusing. to listen.

Still, that one main male narrator is super good. So, you still enjoy it. I personally prefer full cast readings, so, for me it was an uneven experience. Obviously, I already know the main story beats because of regular online discussions and the two movies. I strongly recommend you watch the 1980s movie, and also the new movies that are being released these days. The book is a good complementary reading for this experience.

Ultimately, the book is super cheap. For a very low price you are getting a decent package.

inconsistent but still good

Exceptional world building. Brilliant writing. Really enjoyed the structure of chapters and the bookending using quotes from Princess Iralan.

Superb science fiction!

the only thing that bothered me was the changing of voices of some of the characters. Apart from that little inconvenience everything was superb.

Amazing story, the audiobook was good too
