From the internationally best-selling author of Essentialism comes a guide to making the most important tasks effortless.

The intricacy of modern life has created a false dichotomy between things that are 'hard and important' and those that are 'easy and trivial'. Everything has become so much harder than it ought to be. But, Greg McKeown, best-selling author of Essentialism, says, there is a third alternative. In Effortless, he offers practical strategies for making the most vital tasks the easiest ones. Honed over the better part of a decade, these strategies include:

  • Asking 'What Step Can I Remove?' (accomplish more in fewer steps)
  • Having the Courage to Be Rubbish (prioritise progress over perfection)
  • Deciding What 'Done' Looks Like (don't keep running after you pass the finish line)

McKeown's philosophy of essentialism has helped thousands to eliminate nonessential activities and focus on the few that really matter. Working out what is essential is the first step - making these tasks effortless is the next. Effortless will show you how.

loved it!

My key takeaways:

💡Essentialism is about doing the right things while #Effortless is doing it the right way.
💡Create building blocks of joy in everything you do.
💡Habits explain what you do. Rituals explain why you do them. Create your own "happy" ritual.
💡Importance of residual efforts for effortless results.
💡The need to gain unique knowledge. Something that we really must try more.
💡And the 5 levers to getting things done effortlessly- loved this part in the book!

A breezy, yet effective read with a lot of examples- go for it👍

Great sequel to Essentialism

If the book Essentialism was about how to do the right things, Effortless is about how to do them in the right way.

I have huge respect for the author for continuing his work, with his podcast and other media, which resulted in this book.

I took a lot of notes, and added to-do items to optimize my life and to grow some habits.

I wish I’d read this years ago

Great book that’s full of lots of practical advice about how to make your life easier but still achieve what you need to. If you are a perfectionist or overachiever constantly teetering on the edge of burn out then this book will help you enormously.

2021… finding Essentialism and Effortless are something to be thankful for.

I discovered Greg’s books only recently, and while I’m not going to say they fall into the classics (as that will be for future generations) there is something that resonates from them. I’m still trying to decide what that means for me but I’m thankful that these books exist and I would encourage anyone to check out for themselves.

Dissatisfied

I found this to be a simplistic, repetitive and shallow effort. Don’t bother. Essentialism was much better than this.

Waste of time...

I’m a big fan of Greg’s book Essentialism, but he should have stopped there. This book is at best a recycled bunch of best practice time management tips most of us have learned in high school. Sadly, a waste of time & nothing new or profound here.
