About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

The secret to productivity isn't discipline. It's joy.

We think that productivity is all about hard work. That the road to success is lined with endless frustration and toil. But what if there's another way?

Dr Ali Abdaal - the world's most-followed productivity expert - has uncovered an easier, happier path to success. Drawing on decades of psychological research, he has found that the secret to productivity and success isn't grind - it's feeling good. If you can make your work feel good, then productivity takes care of itself.

In this revolutionary book, Ali reveals how the science of feel-good productivity can transform your life. He introduces the three hidden 'energisers' that underpin enjoyable productivity, the three 'blockers' we must overcome to beat procrastination, and the three 'sustainers' that prevent burnout and help us achieve lasting fulfilment. He recounts the inspiring stories of founders, Olympians, and Nobel-winning scientists who embody the principles of Feel-Good Productivity. And he introduces the simple, actionable changes that you can use to achieve more and live better, starting today.

Armed with Ali's insights, you won't just accomplish more. You'll feel happier and more fulfilled along the way.

Critic Reviews

Ali is the master of productivity. Nobody has a talent for distilling complicated ideas into fun, accessible and actionable insights quite like him. (STEVEN BARTLETT, creator of Diary of a CEO)
Ali is the absolute master on how to be productive without sacrificing your own happiness. This is the book we've all been waiting for. (Dr Julie Smith, author of Why Has Nobody Told Me This Before?)
In this eye-opening and important new book, Ali Abdaal flips the conventional narrative on productivity: accomplishing important things is not about creating more efficient systems but instead about cultivating a deeper energy for your work. This really got me thinking! (Professor CAL NEWPORT, Georgetown University, author of Deep Work and Digital Minimalism)

I love Ali and his videos on YouTube, I was reading the physical copy of the book as I was listening to the audiobook. Some concepts really were interesting and I will be revisiting them. I felt like lots of problems I tend to face and how you can try to overcome them have been mentioned here, which was really nice. Also loved the tagline of the book

If you’ve been into the self improvement space for long enough, this book won’t be a major game changer, but still a great short listen. If you’re new to this field, it’s an incredible entry point.

Great book when you’re completely cluttered in life

I would have to listen it twice or thrice to grasp all information. I wished the author chose simple English words instead of those never heard of vocabulary in day to day life

Extensive book on productive theme

I loved how things were explained clearly without being vague. The various examples and storied made more clear for understanding. Although the philosophy is what you find in a typical self-help book, but the way it is presented is fresh and good.

Easy and doable goals.
