Story
On the surface, this is a biography of an accomplished seeker who mastered the practices of yoga and brought a system for understanding the mysteries of body, mind, and spirit to students in the West. But, like the life of Swami Rama, this audiobook offers more than a sequence of astonishing events. As you read the stories of authentic guru-disciple relationships Swami Rama had both with his master and with his own students, you will see how the spiritual wisdom is transmitted through generations. This book also serves as a guide to advanced practices of yoga and tantra not commonly understood in modern times.

Living a life which is prepared to embrace death.
A profound collation of various aspects of karma and how they influence the cycles of our birth, motives, actions and death. Pointers are also provided on how one can devote one's life to overcome the subtle impressions that propel us and finally cut asunder the repetitive patterns of rebirth. Rendered ably by D.C Rao. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this insightful book.

Many stories from the puranas, ramayana, and upanishads expounded upon to explain life's purpose.
I picked this up after listening to a book about mantras by the same author. I would also highly recommend that one.

Swami Ramas successor
The tone of the book comes across as rigid. The author is Swami Rama’s successor (who is a convicted sexual abuser/paedophilic) and this particular writer took over from him as Spiritual Director. I’m struggling to find any apology or acknowledgement on the Himalayan Institutes website about the abuse Rama committed which is disappointing in this day and age.
