About this listen

Civil war looms in the Bobiverse in this brand-new, epic-length adventure by Audible number one best seller Dennis E. Taylor.

More than a hundred years ago, Bender set out for the stars and was never heard from again. There has been no trace of him despite numerous searches by his clone-mates. Now Bob is determined to organize an expedition to learn Bender’s fate - whatever the cost.

But nothing is ever simple in the Bobiverse. Bob’s descendants are out to the 24th generation now, and replicative drift has produced individuals who can barely be considered Bobs anymore. Some of them oppose Bob’s plan; others have plans of their own. The out-of-control moots are the least of the Bobiverse’s problems.

Undaunted, Bob and his allies follow Bender’s trail. But what they discover out in deep space is so unexpected and so complex that it could either save the universe - or pose an existential threat the likes of which the Bobiverse has ever faced.

Heaven’s River is the fourth installment in the blockbuster Audible Original Bobiverse series - which has sold more than one million copies.

Loved the book and i hope the series continues to uphold it's quality of storytelling going forward

A worthy successor

The story continues to be interesting and the writing and narration styles are excellent. However I think after the larger than life trilogy, this book doesn’t impress as much.

A lot of time was spent in mindless details that weren’t really moving the story forward meaningfully. It was fun the first time around as Bob discovered how to make the new environment work, but was mundane now for book 4.

Still a good story which has left a few good hooks - maybe book 5 Will cash in with a grander galaxy altering storyline that set the original trilogy apart.

Overall still glad I read it and will do the same for Book 5.

Good, but not as good as the original trilogy

That is essentially what it is … an appendix to a body full of sci fi adventure. The story is good but not as good as the rest three. The series does feel unending and has new themes such as replicative drift, intelligent species which experienced the dooms day and is trying to survive, AI playing god etc. But you do get tired … it is not the author, it is you who would need a break after three fantastic stories.

A trilogy with 4th book!

I recall listening the first book series and compared to that this feels a little stretched in the middle. Overall I like the story and narration and would recommend it as a good pass time listen.
There are interesting points raised about morality and I appreciate the way they were weaved into the story as Bob races through the story.

Pleasant listen
