Why rely on drugs and surgery to cure you of life-threatening disease when the right decisions can prevent you from falling ill to begin with?

How Not to Die gives effective, scientifically proven nutritional advice to prevent our biggest killers - heart disease, breast cancer, prostate cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes - and reveals the astounding health benefits that simple dietary choices can provide.

Based on the very latest scientific research, How Not to Die examines each of the most common diseases, chapter by chapter, to reveal what, how and why different foods affect us and how increasing our consumption of certain foods and avoiding others can dramatically reduce our risk of falling sick and even reverse the effects of disease.

With emphasis on individual family health history and acknowledging that everyone needs something different, Dr Michael Greger offers practical dietary advice to help you make valuable decisions about your diet in order to live a longer, healthier life.

Good book on nutrition

A very good read for anyone interested in nutrition and long term well-being. Can at times sound like vegan propaganda, but unlike other books and blogs on nutrition, this book backs all content with necessary scientific sources

A good read for novice health conscious peopl.

It was my first read in the category of food and nutrition and I think it's a good one to start with. The chapters are divided according to diseases and discussed in detail. Each chapter is well researched and detailed.

Superb!

Excellent book! Lots to learn and implement in your diet. The narration is superb too. Loved doc’s sense of humour even in an otherwise serious read.

Too extreme?

Very simple premise. A whole plant based diet that cuts out dairy and eggs is the answer to some of the biggest killers. While I’m a vegetarian for over 20 years now, I do think this is taking it to the extreme. While I would definitely add a lot more fruits and vegetables to my diet and really cut back on meats for compassionate reasons, I’m not sure how much this has an effect on health. Anecdotally I’ve NOT gained any significant health benefits just by going vegetarian.

Extremely verbose

I appreciate Dr greger's efforts in advocating for a plant based diet however, there is a lot of bs in this book. Whenever he is talking about some research or giving any "fact/figures", I am just skeptical because the numbers are always too crazy to be true. I haven't fact checked though.

You don't need to go through the complete audio book to understand the book's concepts. Just 3-4 chapters, and that's it. He is just blabbering on after that unnecessarily.
