Publisher's Summary

Penguin presents the audio edition of How to Love by Thich Nhat Hanh, read by John Sackville.

How to Love is part of a charming series of books from Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh, exploring the essential foundations of mindful meditation and practice.

How to Love shows that when we feel closer to our loved ones, we are also more connected to the world as a whole. Nhat Hanh brings his signature clarity, compassion and humour to the thorny question of how to love and distils one of our strongest emotions down to four essentials: you can only love another when you feel true love for yourself; love is understanding; understanding brings compassion; and deep listening and loving speech are key ways of showing our love.

One of my best purchases, uey6

It's a short book - Less than 80 min - but it's chock full of wisdom.

For me this could not have been more timely.

What is it actually?

- It's the recipe to expand/grow our hearts - so that we can absorb the bad stuff and still be mostly full of good stuff inside.
- Everything needs nourishment to grow - and so does our heart.
- How do you nourish the heart? Get the book :). You won't be disappointed.

I'll be listening to this many, many more times.

Appropriate Expectations

I started the book expecting something completely different. I had hoped there would be a break down of steps towards achieving some goals, for example. That’s not the case. The book is rich in ideals, that’s fantastic. How to get there, not so much.

The larger concern was that the beginning of every new chapter title was so soft it almost meant missing the first word! Very unusual & most definitely unpleasant.
