About this listen

Penguin presents the audio edition of How to Love by Thich Nhat Hanh, read by John Sackville.

How to Love
is part of a charming series of books from Zen Master, Thich Nhat Hanh, exploring the essential foundations of mindful meditation and practise.

How to Love shows that when we feel closer to our loved ones, we are also more connected to the world as a whole. Nhat Hanh brings his signature clarity, compassion and humour to the thorny question of how to love and distils one of our strongest emotions down to four essentials: you can only love another when you feel true love for yourself; love is understanding; understanding brings compassion; and deep listening and loving speech are key ways of showing our love.

Greetings!

I just finished listening to the audiobook of 'How to Love'. I am quite moved by this book. Earlier, I have come across the audiobooks of Shunmyō Masuno called 'Zen: The Art of Simple Living, and 'Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind'.

I consider this book 'How to Love' to be an extension of mindfulness living and loving someone with practising the philosophy of 'Karuna' and 'Mudita'. I cannot be more grateful to enjoy the beautiful book through the relaxing voice of John Sackville.

I was feeling lost and was finding it difficult to connect with myself. I discover this audiobook in the nick of time. As I complete the audiobook, I feel that I am able to revive my stronger connection with myself. Besides, it helps me to find ways to explore the aspect of loving someone unconditionally. This process would further facilitate creating a deeper connection with my friend. I would re-listen to this audiobook sometime soon.

Thank you.

Warm regards,
Saurabh
