Ada Lovelace, la precursora en la genealogía de las "máquinas del pensamiento" (uno de los primeros nombres de los computadores) e hija del célebre poeta Lord Byron, ha sido llamada Lady Byron a través de la historia de la ciencia. Siglos después, su nombre da el título de esta novela a causa de la curiosa ocurrencia de su protagonista ABC (Arquímides Barrientos Carter), quien bautiza así a la inteligencia artificial que creó para predecir valores bursátiles sin percatarse que también era adicta a las apuestas ilegales y que lo acompaña en el "barrio alto" de la Penitenciería de Santiago en su larga condena.
