Publisher's Summary

Hosea has been charged by God with a difficult task-marry a prostitute in order to show God's people the nature and depth of his love for Israel. When Hosea goes to Israel to proclaim God's message, the prostitute God tells him to marry turns out to be his childhood friend Gomer. He finds her broken and abused, unwilling to trust Hosea or his God. But when marrying Hosea becomes her only choice, Gomer does what she's good at - she survives. Can Hosea's love for God and God's love for Israel heal Gomer's broken spirit?

With her potent combination of in-depth research and masterful storytelling, Mesu Andrews brings to life a complex and fascinating biblical story of the power of love and forgiveness in the face of utter betrayal.

God's Redemption

Beautiful and powerful as is Hosea's story unfolds faithful obedience to God will restore our brokenness into vessels of love and obedience which He does use to draw other broken vessels to Him. If we refuse His call to obedience and will not allow God to repair our brokenness then we will remain in that state of brokenness and complete separation from God.

Stubborn Love

The story of Hosea, a minor prophet in the Old Testament of the Bible, is truly a story of love beyond any other love story you have ever heard. The love of God towards His rebellious people, the Israelites, is the same love God sought to teach Hosea in loving a prostitute named Gomer. Gomer was a woman who eagerly and desperately wanted to be loved by a man, yet through her years as a prostitute and circumstances could not see what God wanted her to learn. After making so many mistakes and trying to give herself what she wanted most Gomer finally understood what God wanted to teach her. Hosea a man of faith, had his own battles to fight, yet each time when tested, his greatest weapon was his faith in God.
This is an awesome story of lies, deceit, adultery, idolatry, forgiveness, faithfulness and love. You will enjoy it from beginning until the very end. RNS

Excellent read

I loved it. Great voices and storyline. Follows the bible..... providing interesting personal insight into the feelings of Gomer and Hosea. I love long crafty stories...and this one didn't dissapoint. I listen while I cook and do laundry and it takes some of the monotony and boredom out of life.

Achingly beautiful

This was such an incredible example of redemption. How many times have we found ourselves far away from God and can’t seem to find our way back.

Loved the book, the descriptions and writing made me feel as if it was right there. The narration was lovely.

struggle and freedom

this book had been life changing. sometimes we can't see the idolatry in our own hearts... we look at others and judge the wrongs in their lives while ours stay buried. we stay in the nightmare when Father God wants freedom for us. read with an open heart. see what God will do.
