About this listen

An enchanting journey through the divine life of Krishna, exploring ancient wisdom and timeless devotion.

In this mesmerizing exploration of India's most beloved deity, acclaimed mythologist Anand Neelakantan invites listeners on a profound journey through the mystical life of Lord Krishna. "Many Krishnas" delves into the multifaceted nature of this divine figure who continues to captivate hearts across millennia – as a mischievous child, romantic youth, wise philosopher, and supreme being.

Neelakantan's lyrical prose breathes new life into the ancient tales of Bhagavatam, revealing how Krishna's playful adventures in Vrindavan and his cosmic wisdom in the Bhagavad Gita offer timeless insights relevant to our modern existence. Moving beyond simple storytelling, this audiobook illuminates how Krishna embodies the universe's mysteries and serves as a mirror reflecting our deepest spiritual yearnings.

With scholarly depth yet accessible warmth, Neelakantan traces Krishna's profound influence on India's spiritual landscape through the centuries. From the medieval revival of Vrindavan by saints like Vallabhacharya and Chaitanya Mahaprabhu to the countless poet-saints who spread Krishna Bhakti across the subcontinent, we witness how this blue-skinned god's divine love transformed hearts and shaped cultural movements.

"Many Krishnas" offers a fresh perspective on these ancient narratives while remaining faithful to their essence. Whether you approach this audiobook as a devotee seeking deeper connection, a seeker of philosophical wisdom, or simply someone fascinated by the power of mythology, Neelakantan's masterful storytelling promises a transformative encounter with the eternal cowherd of Vrindavan.

As my title suggests, Manish Dongardive has done a fabulous job—but at times, he sounds like SRK. Not going to lie, that really drew me in. I love Mr. Neelkanthan’s work, no doubt, and Krishna has always intrigued me. I’ve always wanted to learn more about the divine Leeladhar, Krishna Bhagwan.

There are moments where Manish slips up with pronunciations, but overall, it’s a treat to experience this trio—Krishna, Anand ji, and Manish!

I had no clue SRK could narrate Krishna leelas so well

The story retelling with the context and performances are great. Narrator's pronunciation was difficult to digest. A word like Brahman is pronounced as Bhraman. One the ultimate reality, Bhraman means hallucination. Many such words are butchered. The narrator should have asked around how to pronounce the words that are not in English.

The story and performance great. Narrator's pronunciation was difficult to digest.
