Publisher's Summary
When Galen flees his home and travels to Lunar's Reach, he does what he needs to survive. But trading his body for food is always a risky undertaking. After he's found injured in an alleyway, his new friends take him to Moon Flower apothecary, where the madam in charge offers him the proposition of a lifetime.
Little does he know that the Moon Flower flourishes at night - in more ways than one. Gentlemen gather in secret, yearning for an evening with Galen and the others, where they offer pleasure willingly while exploring their desires.
But Galen is continually drawn to the most unassuming man - Azriel, the resident healer, who has the most unusual aura. There's an understated melancholy in him that Galen longs to soothe, and the more time they spend together, the more he craves to know Azriel's touch.
But security is only a threadbare veneer, and soon danger is upon their doorstep. Galen has only ever needed to protect himself, but now he belongs to an ensemble of unlikely characters who've become the family he never had. So he'll put himself on the line, along with his heart, if it means keeping them safe - especially Azriel, the man who quiets his restless soul.

An Extraordinary Story
Moon Flower by Christina Lee was a surprise and an unusual read. And such an interesting book with many parallels to our present-day world. Different from her other books. The world-building is incredible, the story is alive with imagination and I loved the fantasy/historical feel to it.
The old England era is woven into the story making it further interesting as to how difficult it was for Gay men to be themselves and lived in fear of their life and of being found out. Galen in order to survive on the streets sold his body for food. He was attacked and beaten up and left in an alley by a customer. He was found by two angels, the twins Wren and Sparrow, who took him to Moon Flower a home where boys like Galen are given shelter. Moon Flower is a place where men can have privacy to be together or to engage in the services of a young man. Hats off to Madam Langly for having such a safe environment and running an establishment for the boys.
The young men at Moon Flower all have a story, mostly sad. I love the characters in this story. And it's full of romantic dreams for Azrael and Galen with herbology and apothecaries, small villages and bawdy houses, railways, and open fields,
I fell in love with Galen and Azriel, and their innocent love affair and cheered for them when they could be free to live their lives on their terms after moving out of Lunar's Reach due to an incident and an outbreak of a deadly virus and to live a safe and free life thanks to Mr. Blackburn's generosity. Galen's gift of seeing auras on people and reading their feelings was an added interest to the storyline. Easy to read page-turner full of sweetness and love and lots of emotional moments, and some light angst.
