Publisher's Summary

My midlife crisis. My rules. And if it doesn’t put me six feet under, I plan to live it up in style - possibly for the rest of eternity....

After a Luke Skywalker/Darth Vader moment, I discovered I do indeed have a father. He comes with a hell of a lot of baggage, but I’ve decided to keep him. Not only do I have a father, I have a kick-ass new sister, a ghostly family, and super powers to boot. If you add to the mix that I’m dating the Grim Reaper, it’s a freakin’ party.

The only thing standing in the way of my happiness is the Angel of Mercy, though Angel of Misery is more appropriate. She’s responsible for almost everyone I have loved, and who has loved me, being taken away. With the help of family and friends, I will track her down and show her exactly what a perimenopausal hot flash looks like in action.

Job: Death counselor - supergluing ghosts back together and solving their issues is rewarding. For real.

Mission: Bring the seriously evil Angel of Mercy to justice without dying or getting anyone else killed in the process.

Team: A bunch of certifiable Immortals, including one who re-homes vibrators. Yes, you read that correctly.

How to do this? Wing it. Wine, my demon boyfriend, a houseful of deceased squatters, and good friends by my side will help.

Great book!

This book was really good! It was funny, as I always love when reading a Peterman book! It also had a few new things going on, that amped up the intensity a good bit. There was also a twist at the end that had me buying the next book and downloading it before I was even finished with this one.

As with the previous books in this series, this one is not recommended for a noisy environment, unless you don't mind missing a few whispered words and phrases .

Love this series

I’ve been reading this series as the books come out. I saw this in my Audible part of my membership to listen to so I jumped at the chance. I love the story but I had a really hard time with the narrator. She was too fast and I had to slow her down, then I hated it because any speed didn’t match the excitement of the book. Leaving it as it was, the narration was too fast that I felt anxious over the speed. I don’t know what it was about this narrator but I didn’t feel comfortable listening to it. I may just stick to reading the book. I love audiobooks and listen to many stories as I’m working out and driving. I just didn’t like this narrator. Not so much the voice, just the speed. The story was great and I can’t wait to see what happens, but I think I’ll go back to the book and leave the voices to my imagination.

I just never know what to expect next.

I am loving this series and Jessica is my favorite performer of all the ones I've listened to. I can't wait to get into the next.

Great instalment!!

So much went on in this book. It was very funny still, but a little more serious than previous books in the series.
For those who don’t like swearing, please skip the book. There is swearing, but I prefer “sentence enhancers” as a term. It added to the humour.
The narrator is brilliant! Love her. Don’t even have to speed up the listening speed to enjoy the book.

Fun series

Another excellent installment in the series, with yet another cliffhanger ending! I also think the narration is very good.

My Midlife Crisis, My Rules

My Midlife Crisis, My Rules by Robyn Peterman
Book 4 of the Good to the Last Death series. Paranormal women’s fiction. Should be read in series order.
First chapter is a repeat of the last chapter of the previous book.
Daisy’s gifts or abilities continue to grow but will it be enough to go against her nemesis? She has her friends, her parents and her lover to help. Was she dead? An immortal now?

Crazy path that keeps moving. Witty with lots of sarcasm and humor and friends and learning lessons and family for closeness.
“Hear me?”

🎧 Starts with last chapter of the prior book. Which I love since it may be awhile since the last book was read. I alternated between a paperback copy and an audiobook. I enjoy the paperback for clarity and depth while the audio is the most fun for the humor, sarcasm, and accents. The narrator is Jessica Almasy who does a fantastic job with voice variations and emotions. I prefer this author at a slightly faster than usual speed because of the southern accents and drawls that are amazing.

Good story, horrible narrator.

I've read these books and truly enjoy them. I started listening to it and couldn't take it. The narrator reads so fast with no pauses that it is hard to follow along.

Ridiculous

This book was just too much. I will not continue the series. It also ends on a cliff hanger. The only thing good about it was the narration.

still addicted

usually I become invested in the first three books of a series and become bored and move on to a different series.
Not with this one though every book so far has gripped me from start to finish.
I would leave a better review but I want to start listening to the next book.
