Story
In an age where pleasing people, puffing up your ego and building your résumé are seen as the methods to 'make it', the Apostle Paul calls us to find true rest in blessed self-forgetfulness. This audiobook shows that gospel-humility means we can stop connecting every experience, every conversation with ourselves and can thus be free from self-condemnation. A truly gospel-humble person is not a self-hating person or a self-loving person, but a self-forgetful person. This freedom can be yours.

Publisher's Summary
Learn to live and date for more than marriage.
Many of you grew up assuming that marriage would meet all of your needs and unlock God's purposes for you. But God has far more planned for you than your future marriage. Not Yet Married is not about waiting quietly in the corner of the world for God to bring you "the one" but about inspiring you to live and date for more now.
If you follow Jesus, the search for a spouse is no longer a pursuit of perfection but a mutually flawed pursuit of Christ. He will likely write a love story for you different from the one you would have written for yourself, but that's because he loves you and knows how to write a better story. Trust him, and he will help you find real hope, happiness, and purpose in your not-yet-married life.

great points
What did you love best about Not Yet Married?
So many points Segal made in his book were relatable to me as a single, 26 year old Christian. Getting caught up in todays dating scene can feel frustrating and hopeless. Using many bible references Segal helps put anxieties to rest and reminds us to make the most of our single life. This audible was easy to listen to and I enjoyed every minute of it from start to finish.
Any additional comments?
Not a huge fan of the narrator, his voice just didn't go well with the tone of the book for me personally. Sounded like I was listening to a father discuss dating with his father.

Keep Listening! It gets better ... to awesome!
I thought that the book started out slow, boring, and sounding a lot like a "youth group pep talk." It seemed like the author was trying to make the book applicable to as wide of audience as possible, which seemed to exclude those singles who are earnestly seeking God's will for their lives, working diligently, actively involved in their churches, and purposely requesting the advice of their family and godly friends. But that was just the introduction. Once the author dug into the subject, it was an awesome read! It was then VERY applicable to godly singles who are doing all the aforementioned virtuous activities, to spur them on to greater godliness.
Even though I have been married for many years, I benefited and learned from the book, and I now know a reference for single friends and relatives that I can wholeheartedly recommend.

Every human being needs this book...
This is a read that is needed in not only society but in schools, on the curriculum. It gives a clean, transparent talk through on not only marriage and dating but about self; about getting to know yourself through the eyes of our Creator- through God, through Jesus Christ. Marshall Segal has done an amazing job on navigating singles, dating, married etc through the maze of self recognition. I could essay this but I won't. Deep, intelligent read.
