The main characters are delightfully awkward, both with each other and their surroundings in general. They are not in the know of most things and operate with very little knowledge which made it feel very real. I'm excited for whatever is in store for them in the sequel.

This is everything I want in my a cozy historical romantasy. The grim dark vibe, the tantalising mystery, the sizzling chemistry , the complex but extremely likable characters , the immersive but not too complicated world building that will pull you in right from the beginning was absolutely perfection. The narration by Joal Richards was truly the cherry on the cake. This was my first T.Kingfusher and it most definitely won't be the last. Really excited to read the rest of books in this series.
